Inmotion Hosting Review: Why It’s the Top Choice for Websites (February 2026)

In this InMotion Hosting review, I will take a close look at the provider and its pricing, performance, features, customer support and more. My goal is to uncover all the good and not-so-good things that every user should know before choosing (or skipping) InMotion Hosting.

InMotion Hosting is an established provider with 20 years of service. However, it’s not one of the hosts you often see heavily marketed on YouTube or other advertising channels. That doesn’t mean it’s out of business.

In the last year, I’ve noticed quite a few changes happening with InMotion Hosting. It introduced a new look to its website, changed some of its plans, and maybe even branched out to new audiences.

You see, InMotion Hosting was always more of an enterprise solution with many VPS and dedicated hosting options. It wasn’t cheap, but people chose it for its reliability. In-house data centers are definitely what kept this provider in demand.

But the popular shared hosting took a back seat. So have you changed your mindset and are you ready to compete with the giants in the shared hosting market?

So I bought a plan and went on a mission to find out if InMotion can be a real competitor among the major shared hosting providers. I’m not going to lie to you and tell you that this article is short and sweet because I really went for it.

InMotion Hosting pricing

InMotion Hosting pricing HighTechBlogging

InMotion Hosting’s prices start at a very affordable $2.29/month for the cheapest shared hosting option. It also has WordPress, VPS, reseller hosting, and dedicated server plans.

Hosting typeBest for
Shared hosting#1 choice for the majority of small to medium websites. Get InMotion Hosting, now 75% OFF
Managed WordPress hostingBetter performance, with fewer users on a server, for a still affordable price.
VPS hostingEnhanced performance and security for online stores and high-traffic sites.
Reseller hostingAgencies or web developers/designers looking to resell web hosting services.
Dedicated server hostingThe most advanced option with the highest customizability level for enterprises.

Although InMotion Hosting has many types of hosting to offer, InMotion’s most popular web hosting service remains shared hosting, especially the Core plan. The core is what makes InMotion competitive against brands like DreamHost or Bluehost. Without Core, InMotion Hosting would be a bit more expensive, like SiteGround or A2 Hosting.

In any case, InMotion Hosting has 4 shared plans that all come with a free SSL certificate, security suite, free email accounts, and unlimited bandwidth. All plans, except Lite, also include free domain registration.

PlanFeaturesPrice
Core2 websites, 100 GB SSD storage, and 10 email addresses.$2.29/month
LaunchFree domain, unlimited websites, NVMe SSD storage, and unlimited email accounts.$4.99/month
PowerFree domain, caching, unlimited disk space, websites, and email accounts.$4.99/month
ProFree domain, caching, unlimited NVMe SSD storage, websites, and email accounts. Additionally, it includes an SLA uptime guarantee of 99.99%.$12.99/month

In general, InMotion Hosting offers very generous hosting packages. However, there are some extras that you will have to take care of, such as purchasing a domain for the Core plan or paying extra for automated backup. So, while it offers a good amount of resources for a reasonable price, not all plans are of the same value.

For example, the Core plan is aimed at beginners starting a personal blog or portfolio, while the Pro plan is intended for larger sites or even e-commerce sites.

That leaves 2 other options: Launch and Power.

Now if you are looking to run some small to medium-sized single websites, Launch is the one to consider. Both Launch and Power are priced the same and offer very similar resources. However, keep in mind that the renewal price with Power is much higher.

Good To Know
If you are looking for the best value for your money, consider the Launch plan. With a 3-year subscription, the monthly fee will be only $4.99/month for the first 36 months.

Finally, you will have 90 days to get your money back, which is quite a long time compared to the average 30 days return period. Note that the domain is not compensated unless it is canceled within 60 hours after purchase.

In summary, InMotion Hosting’s prices are not the lowest on the market. However, it offers pretty good features for the price you pay. And it’s still cheaper than some of its competitors that offer similar shared hosting plans for small businesses.

Hosting management – is it easy to use?

When it comes to ease of use, InMotion Hosting is great. It uses a combination of a native account management panel (AMP) and cPanel to facilitate the user experience. However, these two can sometimes seem to contradict each other. Moreover, for a better experience, a couple of UX options could be improved.

In any case, both control panels are well-structured and easy to use. Keep in mind that although they look similar, they are not entirely the same.

Now, every time you log into your account, you’ll be directed to the native AMP. Here’s what it looks like:

Hosting management HighTechBlogging

What does it remind me of?

You might have guessed that InMotion Hosting’s native AMP looks a lot like cPanel. But this isn’t cPanel yet; you can get there by clicking that orange “cPanelbutton:

Hosting management HighTechBlogging

As you can see, InMotion has put a custom skin on cPanel so it blends into the interface seamlessly. But this is exactly where the UX issues come into play.

AMP is supposed to be used for account management. Usually, that’s things like billing, domains, account details, and so on.

However, InMotion Hosting decided to introduce a couple of Hosting management features into AMP. So not only can you conveniently reach cPanel from it, but you can also find some of the cPanel modules like Softaculous, Email, or SSL management.

Would you say convenient? Maybe, but some of the things you would normally go to cPanel for are now only available from AMP. That threw me off when I wanted to activate my SSL.

Normally SSLs are activated through cPanel automatically. But mine was “self-signed.” So I was looking in cPanel but couldn’t find any SSL-related settings.

When I contacted support, they redirected me to AMP, as that was where the SSL tools were located. From there, I had no problem activating it.

Hosting management HighTechBlogging

In any case, a couple of UX glitches won’t make InMotion Hosting much less intuitive. cPanel is still a standard control panel model in the hosting industry, and it really makes things like installing WordPress or creating an email account easy.

Speaking of which…

Installing WordPress with InMotion Hosting

InMotion Hosting uses the standard Softaculous app installer for any installation, including WordPress. It’s really easy to use, no matter if it’s your first time or if you’ve created countless websites before.

In any case, you will need to find the “Softaculous” icon. You can do it in the AMP or in the cPanel. You can also click on the “WordPress” icon in the cPanel, in the Main Applications section.

Installing WordPress with InMotion Hosting HighTechBlogging

In all cases, you will end up in the Softaculous interface, where you will be able to choose to install WordPress or any other application that your website needs.

Installing WordPress with InMotion Hosting HighTechBlogging

For the installation, you will need to create a username, a password and think of a title for the website. Don’t worry, you can change all this later if necessary.

After clicking the “Install” button, the program will do everything for you. It shouldn’t take more than a couple of minutes.

By the way, you can now access your WordPress management panel from yourdomain.com/wp-admin/ or from the Softaculous management area.

Adding a professional email with InMotion Hosting

As with the WordPress installation, setting up an email account is very simple. All you have to do is follow the instructions. However, don’t get your hopes up because their email clients are pretty basic and archaic.

First things first, head over to cPanel and find the Email section and click on “Email Accounts”.

Adding a professional email with InMotion HighTechBloggingHosting

There, simply click on “Create,” and you will have to fill in some data. That is, create a mailbox name, a password and configure some parameters if you wish.

Once this is done, you will be able to access your account through the same “Email accounts” icon.

As for webmail client options? RoundCube and Horde – are both open source. In this case, I chose RoundCube because it looks a bit better.

Adding a professional email with InMotion Hosting HighTechBlogging

In any case, these two are very outdated. In addition, your email will be hosted on the same server as your website. This means sharing resources (and reputation) with other server users. That could translate into poor deliverability and rapid use of your website’s resources. Moreover, if your neighbors are using your email for spamming purposes, you could be blocked for spamming as well.

So, is InMotion Hosting’s email service any good? It is, if you’re looking to collect and respond to contact form submissions or use it for casual emailing. But if you are planning large email campaigns – look for paid options outside of your server.

WordPress website builder, aka BoldGrid

One great benefit I’ve found while preparing this InMotion Hosting review is that you can use the BoldGrid website builder. BoldGrid is a set of WordPress plugins that turn the content management system into a visual website builder. This makes WordPress much easier to use if you want to give it that custom look.

I’m super in favor of BoldGrid, as I’ve used it before. And I liked it too. Here are some of its best aspects:

The selection of templates is good and responsive.
The templates are not set in stone and can be easily customized.
There are a variety of tools to easily create attractive pages, posts & design elements.

Best of all, it’s easy to get used to. You’ll have a professional-looking website up and running in no time. And I don’t beat around the bush. All the tools seem to be designed with beginners in mind.

Once you start using it, you’ll be able to select the template you like best.

WordPress website builder aka BoldGrid HighTechBlogging

Don’t worry too much about the category. You can fully customize each design, so it’s more about the layouts than the images.

Once you activate the template, it will import the pages you have chosen with their layouts and demo content. You can use it as a base.

I found this to be the easiest and quickest way – simply replacing the demo content with your own in the pre-organized layout. But that’s definitely not the limit of BoldGrid. You can also drag and drop each element to create your own layout. That takes more time but the result will be much more personalized.

WordPress website builder aka BoldGrid HighTechBlogging

You can do all this directly on the page or post you want to edit.

There are also additional plugins like “Post and Page Builder,” where you can create completely unique layouts.

Overall, BoldGrid proves to be quite a useful and flexible tool. Especially for those who want to quickly get a professional site or those who are new to web development.

Overall, InMotion Hosting is very simple. Managing the website and doing day-to-day tasks is easy. Although InMotion has a couple of bugs, they are not a problem and with the help of support or intuition, can be resolved quickly. Moreover, BoldGrid is very easy to use, even for beginners.

InMotion Hosting for business

InMotion is well-known as a business-oriented hosting provider. If shared hosting solutions are not enough, the provider offers powerful and resource-rich dedicated hosting and VPS plans.

VPS hosting

If your website has outgrown the shared hosting phase, a slightly more advanced VPS is the next best step. InMotion Hosting offers managed and unmanaged VPS options, with the latter being as cheap as $5/month. However, a much more popular and easier-to-manage option is managed with prices starting at $14.99/month.

Managed VPS means you get perks such as server management, cPanel, free data, website migration options, and a free server or website setup already included in your plans.

All InMotion plans include hosting features such as free SSL certificate, unlimited sites, a dedicated IP, free website transfers, cPanel, Web Host Master, security settings, and server configuration.

Now the actual resources vary between 2 to 8 CPUs, 2 to 8GB RAM, 45 to 140GB SSD storage, and 4 to 7TB bandwidth. Not a bad deal knowing that all the resources are dedicated just for you.

One more thing to note, since VPS packages more power than shared hosting, it is natural that the performance is noticeably better as well. After testing InMotion’s VPS hosting plan for over 2 weeks, my site maintained a perfect 100% uptime and demonstrated a fast average response time of 585 ms. on an empty server! So imagine how fast it can get with some optimizations in place.

All in all, InMotion Hosting’s VPS plans are very powerful, easy to manage and rich in resources. They surely land InMotion a place among the best VPS hosting providers. Whether you are looking to run an online store or a larger site with medium to large traffic, this solution offers almost dedicated server-level resources for less.

Dedicated hosting

If shared and VPS hosting solutions are not enough, InMotion also offers dedicated server hosting options.

A private server is often necessary if you have a large corporate website with high traffic levels. By renting the entire server, you get dedicated resources and increased security, as you are the only user on the given hardware.

You can choose between managed ($139.99/month) or unmanaged ($99.99/month) dedicated server hosting. This depends entirely on your preferences and level of expertise. One more thing to note, there are no increased renewal fees for dedicated hosting.

Naturally, managed and unmanaged plans come with different levels of responsibilities. The managed solution ensures that InMotion will take care of your server’s security and automatic updates, as well as provide you with a control panel. However, unmanaged means that you are responsible for all matters related to your private server.

All in all, both solutions come with resources varying from 4 to 24 cores, 1 SSD to 2 TB of NVMe SSD storage, 16 to 192 GB of RAM, and 15 to 20 TB of bandwidth. Some of the best-dedicated server hosting deals out there, especially the generous disk space.

Since you have an entire server all to yourself, your site’s performance will also be much better than with shared hosting. In almost a month of monitoring time, my site on InMotion Hosting’s dedicated server plan has shown 99.93% uptime and a very fast average response time of 414ms. And keep in mind, This can be further optimized to perform even faster.

Overall, the provider has a wide variety of dedicated hosting options. The prices are reasonable and the solutions are very powerful and resource-packed.

Overall, InMotion Hosting’s approach to businesses is clearly visible. The host offers powerful VPS and dedicated hosting options at quite reasonable prices. Especially for the resources it offers in return.

Performance – is InMotion Hosting fast?

InMotion Hosting HighTechBlogging
Performance

InMotion Hosting has always focused on business users by promising them exceptional performance. To find out if that’s true, I conducted extensive testing. The provider managed to prove to be reliable and fast.

It also easily handled fairly heavy site traffic. InMotion’s shared plans appear quite powerful and best suited for popular blogs or small to medium-sized business websites.

InMotion Hosting uptime and response time

At the time of writing this article, I have been monitoring InMotion Hosting for almost two months. During this time, it has had 3 outages that total have amounted to 16 minutes of downtime. That’s still an uptime of 99.98%. Meanwhile, the average response time was 759 ms, which, in my opinion, leaves some room for improvement.

InMotion Hosting uptime and response time HighTechBlogging

Quite a few numbers to analyze, what do they mean?

First of all, InMotion Hosting promises 99.9% uptime, which is the standard offered by most hosting companies. However, what you actually get is much better. 99.9% means that your website is expected to be down for 43m 49s per month. However, InMotion Hosting beats it with an expected monthly downtime of only 8m.

Speaking of response time, the average time among shared hosting providers is around 600ms. So while InMotion’s result is good, it is a bit behind other very performance-focused providers like Hostinger or SiteGround.

Overall, InMotion Hosting demonstrated great results in terms of reliability. There were almost no outages and performance remained very stable during the entire review period. Although the response time was nothing to write home about.

Next, let’s examine the website’s loading speed.

InMotion Hosting speed

My website is hosted in the US data center, so the best results are expected in the US. – with the highest content painting (LCP) at only 425ms. To be honest, InMotion easily makes it among the fastest web hosting providers. In terms of LCP increase in other locations, well, that is absolutely expected. The further we move away from the server location, the longer it will take for the website to load.

InMotion Hosting speed HighTechBlogging

But why have I put so much emphasis on LCP?

Google has started using metrics like LCP when ranking web pages. Initially, it means that your site is more likely to appear higher on the search results page if the number is low. As long as you stay below 2.5s, you’ll be fine.

InMotion Hosting arguably stole the show with the lowest time at 425ms. Even in India, the site manages to load fast enough to fit within Google’s standards.

Good To Know
InMotion Hosting is a green web hosting provider that manages green data centers exclusively in the United States. The only difference is that the server can be located on the west coast or on the east coast. Therefore, this provider is a great option if your target audience is also in the US.

So far, so good, right? I wonder, will the results still be just as good if I revisit my site now that it is fully built?

The LCP increased, however, only slightly. Now the LCP load time is 663ms.

InMotion Hosting speed HighTechBlogging

This leaves a lot of leeway, so you don’t have to worry about trying to sneak into Google’s recommendations.

Also, keep in mind that you need to think even more about your site visitors. Your visitors are more likely to have a good experience if the site load time is less than 3s. If we take that into account, this site fits perfectly into the category of fast websites, with a full load time of only 0.8s.

InMotion Hosting stress testing

Okay, numbers upon numbers, but it’s not the end yet. Let’s jump into the fun side of things with one more test to go. This might be the most important test of all.

All right, and drum roll, please … let’s see if InMotion Hosting can handle some traffic.

For starters, I’ve sent 50 visitors to my website. Let me clarify – that’s a big number. Having 50 visitors to your website every minute at all times could result in 10s of thousands of visitors monthly. Highly sought after, so to speak.

InMotion Hosting stress testing HighTechBlogging

And the drum roll intensifies… it looks like InMotion didn’t even blink. As you can see, the increase in site visitors (gray line) had little to no impact on site response time (blue line). As it turns out, that much traffic was a piece of cake for InMotion, which passed the test with flying colors.

50 visitors or 1 visitor – it seems to make almost no difference.

In the end, InMotion will be able to remain fast even if your site gets a big spike in traffic.

All in all, InMotion Hosting’s performance is reliable and fast, with enough power to support small to medium-sized websites. The website will not have any issues with regards to outages and the speed you will get will certainly help keep your website competitive and pleasant to use.

Is InMotion Hosting secure?

When it comes to security, InMotion has taken numerous steps to make the website as secure as possible. It includes a “Security Suite” in all of its plans. The suite comes with free SSL, Hack & Malware Protection, and DDoS Protection. Automatic backups, unfortunately, cost extra.

You can find all the security-related tools in the Security section of cPanel.

Is InMotion Hosting secure HighTechBlogging

Now, let’s look at the security suite and what it does:

Free SSL is essential and most web hosting providers give it for free now. It is nothing special. It encrypts all visitor-server communication so that no third party can access sensitive da
Ta. It also gives your website that security lock by the domain name.
InMotion’s Hack and & Malware protection is not visible from cPanel. It is an internal server security measure over which we have no control, so we have to take the provider’s word for it.
The ModSecurity module can be enabled and disabled from cPanel. It is a web application firewall that filters traffic as well as detects and prevents malicious attacks on your website. It is almost standard to have it enabled.
DDoS protection is provided by Corero, which is not found in the cPanel. However, it is an automatic protection against DDoS attacks in real time that detects and prevents your server from being overwhelmed by the number of malicious requests. It is automatically activated and is always on. You don’t have to do anything to enable it yourself.
Although InMotion Hosting doesn’t emphasize it, two-factor authentication is also available in cPanel, and I highly recommend using it. It will protect your hosting account from being hacked by adding a second layer of security – a code that is only available to you. Logging in with just a password is no longer enough.
Free SSL is essential, and most web hosting providers give it for free now. It is nothing special. It encrypts all visitor-server communication so that no third party can access sensitive da

In Motion Hosting has all the basic tools needed to manage a secure website. However, quite useful features, such as website backups, come at an additional cost, which is a bit disappointing. Overall, InMotion is not the strongest in the security field, but what it offers is enough to ensure protection against the most common threats.

Will InMotion Hosting support help me?

InMotion Hosting offers quite a few customer support options. This includes 24/7 live chat, email, ticket, phone support, and even Skype. In addition, the provider has a huge collection of articles in their knowledge base and on their blog. In addition, there is also a fairly active community forum.

For this InMotion Hosting review, I contacted the live chat a couple of times. The responses were almost always immediate. Which is great. On the other hand, once already connected with the agent, there can be some wait times between responses.

The first time I used live chat was to get in touch with the sales team before I made my purchase and ask if my choice of plan was OK for what I had envisioned for my website. I now regret this decision to the fullest. The chat itself went well, nothing unusual. I received a follow-up email, and that was the end of it.

Not quite. The emails kept coming.

You see, I provided him with my personal email in the chat box. And since I didn’t continue to purchase the plan through the agent, he started bombarding me with emails.

Special discount for this. Personal offer for that… And no unsubscribe button.

I get it; the agent takes a commission on a sale. But annoying emails several times a month will only land you in my junk folder.

Let this be a warning to you. If you need sales advice, use a bogus email.

However, contacting tech support was a completely different story.

The tech support agent I spoke with was very friendly and eventually resolved my issue. I could not find where to activate the free SSL certificate. Although the chat started with a bit of miscommunication.

Will InMotion Hosting support help me HighTechBlogging

The agent explained how to add a paid certificate, and at first, I was a little confused with all the abbreviations. But once I specified that I meant the free certificate, I quickly got step-by-step instructions on how to do it.

Will InMotion Hosting support help me HighTechBlogging

Ignoring the initial confusion, everything went great. Also, I want to give a little praise to InMotion Hosting for not sending me the knowledge base SSL guide first but for actually writing the instructions. Brownie points to you, sir.

All in all, I still think InMotion’s customer support is good. But the experience can vary widely. When the human factor is involved, there is no way to ensure that all agents are 100% experienced in all areas equally. There is also the possibility that they may simply have a bad day. There is no training for that.

So if you need something to make sure that’s true, a knowledge base is best.

Speaking of knowledge base, I’m quite impressed by InMotion. The interface is a bit dated, but the selection of articles and guides is exceptional. Plus, the quality of them is great.

Will InMotion Hosting support help me HighTechBlogging

From what I have found, most of the articles provide the most up-to-date information.

Another way to get help is through the community forum. It’s not very active, but the moderators participate in all the topics to guide you in the right direction. It’s more than you would expect from any hosting provider.

All things considered, I would say that InMotion Hosting’s customer support is good. Of course, there is the human factor involved, but you can avoid that by going to a very comprehensive knowledge base.
