Deel Review: The Ultimate Solution For Your Needs! (September 2024)

Deel Review: Deel is a professional employer organization (PEO) that offers comprehensive global HR solutions while acting as an employer of record (EOR).

It provides contractor management, global payroll, and immigration support services. Deel operates in more than 100 countries and jurisdictions, assisting in all aspects from recruitment to termination.

Deel simplifies HR essentials such as payroll, compliance, and employee benefits, which are challenging for international companies. In addition, Deel’s extensive functionality and resources make paying contractors and employees around the world simple.

Why We Chose Deel for Global Payments

Deel offers several human resources (HR) solutions for companies with international operations. We were particularly impressed with Deel’s global pay functions, as not many PEOs offer global payroll. Deel can help you replace an in-house HR department, set up workers in new countries, and pay contractors and employees in multiple currencies.

Why We Chose Deel for Global Payments HighTechBlogging

The platform acts as a centralized payroll system where you can view and manage all worker payments from a single source. In contrast, other vendors may make you jump between systems and services to control payroll. We also like that Deel provides global payroll reporting and analysis.

We were impressed with Deel’s unique benefits tool, which helps you decide which benefits to offer a worker based on their location. This feature is valuable as employers expand their talent pools in different regions. For all these reasons and more, Deel is our choice for the best PEO for global pay.

Ease of Use

Ease of Use HighTechBlogging

Deel offers several additional plans and resources to help customers customize the service to their needs. We like that Deel offers localized support to help you comply with legislation in various countries and jurisdictions. During our testing and analysis, we were pleased with the ease of use of Deel’s platform.

We like that it offers a centralized location for employers to view and manage worker payments globally – a necessity for companies with international operations. We found it easy to access and work with Deel’s global analytics features and customizable dashboard. In addition, we appreciated Dee’s benefits tool, which can help employers understand what employee benefits to offer their workers in various locations.

Features

Since Deel offers several HR plans and additional options, the standard PEO services you use will depend on your plan. Here are some of our favorite Deel features that make it an especially ideal solution for global payments.

Global Payroll & Taxes

We like that Deel makes it easy to pay employees and contractors in over 100 countries. You can view and manage all payments from a centralized platform and set up automated invoicing and payments. We were impressed that, if you need help navigating local payroll or setting up an entity, Deel’s in-house payroll experts can help.

We were especially pleased that Deel offers payroll and tax (where applicable) and local filing with authorities. Not many of the PEO services we reviewed offered this level of global service.

Global payroll and taxes HighTechBlogging

Deel’s contractor payment options are also notable. Deel allows more than 10 financing options for customers and more than seven withdrawal options for contractors, including physical contractor cards.

If contractors need to modify their contracts, they can do so seamlessly within the Deel platform, as the information will be updated in their payroll system. This level of contractor management is impressive – some PEO competitors we reviewed provided no contractor management services at all.

Tip

Consult a business lawyer if you have any doubts about the use of an EPO for international operations.

Employee Benefits

We are pleased to see how quickly Deel goes through the onboarding process, regardless of where your employees or contractors are located. An important part of employee onboarding is making sure that your employees can easily access and manage their employee benefits. Also, knowing what benefits you should (or must) offer employees in different countries can be a challenge, but Deel simplifies the process.

We were impressed with Deel’s unique Profit Tool. During testing, we found it intuitive and easy to navigate. The user enters a country and selects the type of benefits they want: statutory, common, and competitive. The tool populates a list of benefits based on their selections, along with brief descriptions.

We also found it helpful that Deel included where and how the benefit is offered, e.g., through the government, a third party, or Deel. This is a valuable tool for companies around the world and we have not found it in other vendors we have evaluated.

Deel does an excellent job helping companies comply with HR regulations in various countries and jurisdictions. It offers onboarding, document collection, and outsourced onboarding services with compliance assurance tailored to each location.

We also like that it offers localized contracts and employment documents for contractors and employees, as well as additional services such as background checks and visa assistance features that many PEOs do not offer.

FYI

If you need help with recruitment, Deel offers local legal recruitment experts and has more than 200 partners worldwide.

Pricing

Rather than offering a package of HR solutions, like many other PEOs we have reviewed, Deel offers different plans for companies with different needs. We consider Deel’s plans to be relatively customizable solutions. Here’s a quick look at some of the plans Deel offers:

Deel HR: This plan is free for companies with up to 200 employees. It provides access to standard HR functions such as onboarding and offboarding, document management, organizational charts, time off tracking, expense management, workflow automation, HR reporting and customizable permissions.
Contractors: This plan starts at $49 per month and is worth it if you want to hire contractors globally. It has features that help you avoid worker misclassification, create locally compliant worker contracts, collect local tax settlements, and automate invoicing and time-off management. It also enables bulk payments to contractors with more than 10 different methods and 150 different currencies.
Global Payroll: This is where Deel shines. While other plans include payroll, this plan focuses exclusively on payroll. You’ll need to contact a sales representative for exact pricing, but the plan includes features such as centralized payroll management, government filings, benefits, payroll tax reporting, local payroll compliance, and global payroll reporting.
Immigration: Few competitors offer the services of this plan. However, immigration services can be especially valuable when globalizing your workforce. Deel can sponsor visas in 25 countries, centralize the tracking of applications and offer support from local immigration experts.
EOR: This plan starts at $599 per month. It may seem expensive, but it includes many global employment features. These include international recruiting, payroll processing, and tax filing, employee benefits administration, compliance assistance, and more than 20 useful integrations.

We like that Deel allows you to customize your HR plan with useful add-ons like localized benefits, team dispatch, visa management, background checks, contractor management, and global workspaces.

We also didn’t see any requirements for the minimum number of employees, which is great if you’re looking to hire a few workers in a given location.

Did You Know?
Deel’s EOR services are valuable when expanding into countries where you do not have a legal entity. In contrast, standard EPOs use a co-employment model, which requires you to have a locally registered entity in the country where you have employees.

Implementation/Onboarding

Deel offers several plans with a wide range of additional options. Contact a Deel representative directly to set up a plan that meets all your needs. Deel’s implementation period is approximately one to three months, which is on par with other vendors we have reviewed.

Note that Deel offers a custom application programming interface and integrates with more than 15 HR information systems and accounting platforms. You will likely want to add at least one or more integrations. While adding integrations may increase implementation time, you will be able to streamline your HR processes in the future.

Customer Support

Customer Support HighTechBlogging

We are delighted with Deel’s customer support options. Unlike some competitors who only offer support during certain hours, Deel has an in-app support chat available 24/7. We found this to be a key feature for employers with international workers. Instead of being limited to a one-time zone, you can be assured that help is on the way 24/7.

We also like that Deel provides its customers with a dedicated customer success manager. You will have a contact person whenever you have questions about the platform or managing your international workforce.

FYI

Deel offers a wealth of online resources to educate employers around the world. Its global sourcing guide can assist in the hiring process by outlining best practices for remote sourcing, and its global sourcing toolkit includes cost and salary, outlook calculators.

Limitations

Although Deel is an excellent option for global payments, we discovered some limitations.

Few performance management features: Deel does not offer the extensive performance management features of some other PEOs we reviewed. You must add an HR plugin or integrate it with another performance management solution if you want those features for your global workforce. Both solutions offer a wealth of resources to help employees improve and excel.
Lack of accreditation: We have noted another small limitation: Deel is not accredited by either the ESAC or the BBB. This is not necessarily a reflection of the type of service you will receive with Deel. However, we like our top picks to have these types of accreditations. If accreditations are essential to you.

9Expert Score
Verdict

Deel stands out as an exceptional choice for global HR and payroll solutions. With its impressive array of services, user-friendly interface, and unmatched global payroll capabilities, Deel earns a solid 9 out of 10. Its commitment to compliance and customer support, coupled with the unique benefits tool, makes it an excellent option for businesses seeking efficient global workforce management.
While minor limitations like performance management and accreditations exist, they do not overshadow the significant advantages Deel brings to the table.
